It all started in Hove in 1971 when Kraft Paper Products was launched, with just six employees and a small lithographic printing and basic finishing service. By 1987 KPP was growing and took on Steve Cropper as Van Driver and Production Operator. In 1991 the founder Nigel Holmes was ready to rebrand and launch as Gemini Press. By 1993 Gemini Press expanded from lithographic printing to include digital printing. The founder of another Sussex printer, Gwynne Printers died and his son Nick sold the company to Gemini Press and joined the senior team. By 1994 Steve Cropper was promoted to Production Director, the companies nationwide coverage took hold when in 1997 Ambassador Litho Limited was incorporated.
Sadly in 2011 Managing Director and company founder, Nigel Holmes passed away. Steve Cropper was appointed the new Managing Director and CEO and commenced a detailed review of all parts of the group.
By 2013 the company rebranded to Gemini Print and in 2015 Chris Pennison joined as Chairman. 2017 saw a major transition stage for Gemini Print as Steve Cropper formed a new board of Directors (86% of the shareholders are operational Directors) and commenced the installation of world class leading edge print manufacturing presses including a Heidelberg XL105 10 colour press. In addition to a focus on ‘planet positive’ printing, the Gemini Print team developed a consultative sales approach to enhance the customer experience and advance service qualities.
By 2018 the expansion of the range of products and services to provide the perfect partnership for all printing and promotion needs, was highlighted by the introduction of a single Gemini Print Group branding.
The high standards of service provided to clients were recognised in 2019 by the achievements of three ISO accreditations, a series of business awards, a print week award, plus the top score in Europe for the GREEN LEAF Environmental Management Awards. To further develop the range of client services the Gemini Print Group launched REAM a full service creative branding and multi-media design team.
During 2020 and 2021 whilst managing the impact of Covid-19 the time was used to manage the implementation of new systems including MIS and CRM to enhance effective contacts liaison and reporting.
In 2021 the direct mailing services, including auto inserters and envelope printing were installed. The Gemini Print Group was proud to be the first UK business to go live with Kodak Prinergy on Demand – an excellent programme which provides a secure way of providing enhanced services to clients.
