Print Week magazine publishes the 2019 list of the “industry’s most influential leaders”
Congratulations are coming into Gemini Print following confirmation that managing director Steve Cropper has achieved the Print Week Power 100 again. Darryl Danielli, Editor of the leading industry publication, Print Week, says the Power 100 is “the annual ranking of the industry’s most influential business leaders.”
The statistics published by the BPIF (British Printing Industries Federation) UK Printing Facts & Figures 2019 show that the UK printing industry is the worlds fifth-largest producer of printed products providing a positive trade balance in 2018 of £742 million. With more than 8,000 print companies, the accolade of achieving the Print Week Power 100 is a key achievement.
In addition to the Print Week industry committee, there is a public vote that attracted more than 6,500 nominations – ranking Steve as 18th in the UK!
Highlights in 2019 included
QUALITY & SERVICE
The new focus on customer delight and leading manufacturing standards achieved a double win in the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards 2019. Key to the decisions of the judges was the level of feedback from clients and accolades for the client services team, plus the new standard of consultative support and partnerships that are helping clients maximise results and value. Gemini Print achieved a third ISO accreditation ISO9001-2015 for quality management – with the involvement of everyone across the company. The vast range of printing choices by clients extended with the recognition that printing is creative, engaging and effective – uniquely tactile and trusted to hold peoples attention with longevity and authority.
GROWTH
More skilled people joined the team, and new clients were welcomed when Foundry Press was brought out of administration and incorporated with Gemini Print. The programme of investments continued with new arrivals such as the high-speed Heidelberg Stahlfolder to increase the efficiency of the print finishing operation and a new HP Indigo press extended the range of digital printing services. Clients also welcomed the new Gemini Print ‘Total Service’ options that now include litho printing, print finishing, promotional products, large format printing, mailing and direct marketing services, online integration, Web2Print, plus multi-media creative design.
CHARITY & COMMUNITY
Once again, Gemini Print increased the breadth of practical support to help a wide range of charities. This support took on a whole new level in 2019 with Steve leaving his comfort zone completely to do a cheeky cabaret performance in front of more than 600 guests at The Midsummer Ball to raise more than £22,000 for The Starr Trust – a small family run charity that helps disadvantaged young people. Sponsorship by clients, suppliers and colleagues demonstrated huge support, especially from those who know how much Steve is much more comfortable staying out of the limelight!
ENVIRONMENTAL
Proactive development of the Gemini Print ISO14001 environmental management and eco-standards (FSC chain of custody certification) continued – new lighting, improved despatch efficiencies, 100% paper recycling, and the ‘Say NO to Plastic’ branded merchandise and promotional products options.
